About Dr. Farinas

Practicing psychiatry, I provide "Integrated Behavioral Medicine" services. The dynamic interplay between neuroscience, biochemistry, stress and lifestyle choices impacts health and emotional well-being every day. My goal is to stay current on research and medical developments, educate patients and their families, and then support the decisions they make. My areas of expertise include:

Depression, Anxiety Disorders, Individual Counseling, Family & Couples Counseling, Child & Adolescent Mental Health, General Adult Psychiatry, Stress Management, Addictions/Compulsive Behaviors, Nutritional &
Wellness Assessments, Women’s Health Issues and Pharmacology

To maximize outcomes it is essential to collaborate with the other health providers caring for patients and family members.  I do this as much as possible to improve through the course of treatment. I approach behavioral medicine in a very straightforward manner. Allowing patients and families time to formulate questions, then taking my time to give detailed, comprehensive answers, improves understanding and treatment results. Ultimately, I make recommendations; you make decisions.

When I am not at work, I most enjoy spending my free time with my husband, puppy, Elroy, (who accompanies me to the office each day) and extended family who live in the area. It is a priority for me to maintain close contact with my Mom and brother, who live out of state, as well as friends all over the country. Cooking, painting and beading are creative outlets that feed my soul.

I support the arts locally and have encouraged many talented individuals to display their works in the office.

Cynthia Teague, LMHC, RN

Please join Dr. Farinas and staff as we welcome Cynthia, who is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Registered Nurse, to our practice. Cynthia received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas School of Nursing.  As a nurse, she worked in Pediatric Oncology, caring for the children with cancer, in addition to supporting and educating their families. She loved the challenge of caring for young people with cancer and understands that the whole family needs help coping, when a loved one suffers from a catastrophic illness. After almost two decades of nursing, supporting, and educating children and families, through cancer and other chronic medical illnesses, Cynthia decided to pursue a Master’s Degree in Community Counseling. Now, she has been in practice for over 10 years. Cynthia is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Sand Tray Therapy. Both modalities help people resolve distress and explain their emotions, when they can’t find, or don’t have, words to explain their feelings.

Cynthia enjoys working with children, adolescents, adults, and families.
